I'm going to pimp this now and hope people pay attention.. this is for the chatters of Warp1.net. This isn't for me, this isn't for anyone's personal gain.. this is for the benefit of the community and the people that have come to be a part of it.

Check out the Warp1.net Donate-a-thon 2006. We don't ask for money very often.. or.. ever at all, but we know how frustrating it can be to lag. We know how frustrating a slow site can be. I want to help change that.. but I can't do it alone. I need your help, donations, support, friends with lots of money.. you know what I'm talking about.

And...a chat site in need of an upgrade...why...it just gets ya right in the 110010101. We're not asking for much. Just pennies on the dollar really...to make your chatting experience the best it can be. Reach into your pockets...for just dollars a day you too can help a starving Sys Admin get that new motherboard. For the price of a cup of coffee you too can let your favorite chat site upgrade it's hardware. Just think...2 cups of coffee will help send your post rocketing through the internet at a faster speed. Oh sure...sure..there's kool-aid stands but...you have to get permits for it now adays...bake sales - health license.

Yes. We've sold out. We're doing what we've never really done before: asking for donations. *pause for gasps and outbursts of outrage* The truth is that the main server is old, and it's only getting older. We've patched up the old darling's battle wounds about as much as we can. And, quite honestly, she's getting slow.

Now, we're lucky in that we don't have to pay hosting or bandwidth. And it's a good thing, too, because the site wouldn't exist if we had to. We just can't afford that, purely because we don't tend to ask for donations for things. But now we are. We want to build a new machine to house the site on, one that we expect will last for quite some time to come, one that will have the power and memory and space and speed to deal (without the dreaded lag) with things like the recent "oldies bash" which boasted a total of 73 separate people in one room (many of them at the same time), which I'm sure has to be a record for the site.

So...yeah. If you're involved with the site regularly, and have some spare cash, consider donating. After all, in the end, it'll be yourself you're helping out...and your friends...and anyone else that uses the site regularly.

I wasn't really going to write much of anything here anymore. I was just going to use this journal for watching a few other journals here at GJ. and for posting in my graphics community here. But...this is something that I had to get out, and I'm putting it here because it involves GJ more than LJ at the moment.

Seeing the beautiful blue animated butterfly icon my friend Tess made for me in someone else's user icons (and uncredited as well) is very depressing, and a little irksome. Seeing it there like that, when I expressly put DO NOT TAKE in the keyword comments, is... Well, I guess I have to remember, once again, that people really suck. I willingly share damn near every graphic I make/manipulate, and often even try to accomodate people when they're seeking something made...even when they make a request that seems a lot more like an expectation or demand. I rarely ask credit, and never flat out demand it. But, damnit, when something is made for me by someone else who hasn't given permission for that to be shared around, and then taken without even a damn word, I see red. I can put up with a lot of things, but a basic lack of respect for the hard work of others and flat out rudeness are two things I don't deal with well...or at all. And the worst of it is that the person will likely never see this, or will never realize it's about them even if they do...and will certainly never seek to rectify it.

Just tempts me to stop with graphics. Why bother sharing my hard work with people who only end up so rude and inconsiderate? Hell, it makes me want to just stay away from people altogether, because I'm so sick of the selfish and self-centered attitudes so many seem to flaunt these days. Yeah...why bother indeed...

I know one damn thing, though. The first time I see the icon I made of Tess' artwork that she worked hard on for me being used by someone else, I will go so fucking postal on that person's ass that they'll regret ever fucking with me. Ever.

This journal's no longer going to be used for any sort of posting. The exception to that is that I will still be using it to post in my graphics community. Journaling just...seems a waste of time anymore. I'm sure I'll still be reading the posts from friends, those that post entries, but otherwise...I think I'm just done with it. For me, it's utterly pointless.

No, I don't have AIDS. I don't have HIV. I've known people, my late husband among them, who have died from complications of this disease, people who should have had many more years left. People who should have been able to watch their children grow up. People who had loved ones left behind to deal with the pain and loss.

AIDS must be fought. And the best weapon we have is awareness.

Not happy with the little banner thing at the top, but..eh. What can ya do, y'know? I might pester someone or other in our little community into helping me with a better one. And I still have to fill out the info. But..that's going to become the main home of my graphics up for grabs, when I post them. *nod* The comm will be lacking in free layouts and possibly glittery names and such (unless one of us knows how to do that stuff and I don't know about it yet *l*). But anyway...there it is if anyone wants to have a look.

(And, yes, I did just edit an already existing style at GJ. But that's because I'm a putz and can only edit styles, not make them myself. Custom styles pwnz0r me hardcore. And I'll be losing my access to Cherry Styles' stuff along with my LJ paid time. Bah.)
